The Oyster Asia Opportunities Fund, which will be managed by Singaporebased Tantallon Capital, is part of the firm’s Luxembourg-domiciled Sicav range and will invest in the equities of companies in the emerging regions of Asia, excluding Japan.
It will initially only be available to institutional investors, but will shortly be registered for sale in a number of European countries and sold similarly to the firm’s Oyster fund range. As with others in that range, Syz & Co has entrusted its management
to a fund manager local to the region.
Managing the fund will be Siew Hua Thio of Tantallon Capital who has a number of years experience in the Asian equity markets and has built up a decent track record. According to figures supplied by Syz & Co, he has achieved a return of 28% over three years, an outperformance of 21% against the MSCI Asia-ex Japan index while managing a similar fund.
